πŸ† Game of the Week n.4: GM Bu Xiangzhi vs  GM Gorshtein Ido – 1-0 @ Orillas de Mar β€“ Round 6 – June 29th, 2023 – Tenerife

The post match analysis between the two Grandmasters at Casa Fuerte of Adeje

Bu Xiangzhi was born in Qingdao, China, in 1985. He began playing chess at the age of six and quickly rose to the top of the world rankings. In 1999, at the age of 14, he became the youngest Grandmaster in history.

Bu Xiangzhi is a very talented and versatile player. He is able to play in a variety of styles. But he is best known for his precise, aggressive and attacking style. He loves to attack the opponent’s king and is not afraid to take risks.

This style has led him to win many tournaments. He was the Chinese Champion in 2004 and got the gold medal at the World Chess Team Championship in 2015. And the Chess Olympiad in 2018.

In the Orillas de Mar tournament, Bu Xiangzhi had a great result, scoring 7 points in 9 games. This allowed him to qualify for the tiebreak, where he finished third among the other top five finishers with 7 points.

We were very impressed by the courtesy of Bu Xiangzhi and his entire Chinese chess team. They were the first 12 Chinese chess players to participate in a high-level tournament outside of their Country after the pandemic. And we did everything we could to help them get the visas they needed to come to Tenerife and Europe.

After the Orillas de Mar tournament, Bu Xiangzhi won the XLII OPEN INTERNACIONAL β€œVILLA DE BENASQUE” and the MTO tournament in Biel (Switzerland). Orillas de mar was a great way to warm up his tour and prepare for the next games.

Bu Xiangzhi is a very promising chess player. We are sure he will continue to win many tournaments in the future. He is a great talent and has a very bright future ahead of him. We already invite him with great pleasure to the next edition of the “Orillas de Mar” International tournament. End of June 2024.
